My Review of Pitchfork By William S. Mayfield

This film starts with a group of friends on a road trip to farm land U.S.A. So that Hunter, one of the group, can tell his dad that he is gay. From the start its said that his dad is not going to be so happy to hear this news. The very colorful group of friends gets to the farm and after the news is delivered decides to have a party in Hunter's dads barn and we are treated to a 80's montage segment as they get the party ready. As soon as the party gets into gear we find there are other secrets lurking around in the country side as people are picked off by a maniac with a pitchfork for a hand.

Directed and co-written by Glenn Douglas Packard who actually grew up where the movie was filmed. Pitchfork is an Indy movie and I feel Packard uses that to its fullest. Shot with only one camera, yes one camera, Packard did some amazing things with this film. Some of it is not for everyone but then again this is early in his career and lets give him some slack, everyone starts somewhere. Lindsey Nicole who plays Clare stood out to me as the best performance in this, and this is her first film. I see her going places.

My only real complaint with Pitchfork is there is really no foreshadowing. There is a girl that gets killed in the beginning and that's it, could be a kill in any other movie out there. At its core it is a slasher film. It has a killer, a group of friends, hot girls, and lots of gore. I give Pitchfork a 5 out of 10, please give it a view and see for yourself, it will be available in all formats this Friday, the 13th.
