My review of ‘Gremlin’ By William S. Mayfield

We all remember Gremlins from the 80's, Gizmo was so cute and fluffy and the Gremlins he accidentally  spawned were mean but funny in a mischievous way, now forget that movie because Ryan Bellgardts Gremlin is many things but cute is not a word I would use to describe it. The film starts off with a older couple terrified of a ornate box with symbols on it. The man is yelling for the woman to be quiet as the box opens. This movie starts off with a bang and doesn't really let up much during the film. Fast forward maybe a day and the old man from beginning is giving this old metal looking box to his mother. He is very upset to learn that she has company staying with her but he still insist that he has to give this box to a loved one and quickly leaves. The mother takes it and we are introduced to the Thatchers. Adam and Julie, its not long till they find something wrong with the box as death follows it closely. The story was quite original and I don't want to give any of it away. The Thatchers daughter Anna sneaks out the first the box is at the house to inform her boyfriend that she is pregnant and while shes out of the house we see what happens when the box is ignored. There is so much I want to say but I am  afraid I'll blurt some crucial detail out and I don't like giving spoilers in my reviews. As the story unfolds we see this family go through hell and we find out they had already had tragedy  in there lives before this story. To sum it it all up with out spoiling it, see it, there is no other way to put it. If you are a horror fan and especially creature horror films are your thing then give Gremlin a watch. Great actors and awesome special effects. I give Gremlin a solid 8 out of 10. Remember, if a loved one gives you a gift and they are very insistent that its because they love you, don't touch it.

Available July 11th from Uncork'd Entertainment!
