Happy Mardis Gras from the Creepercast!

This year required holiday flick is Mardi Gras Massacre (1978), an American horror film written and directed by Jack Weis. It stars Curt Dawson, Gwen Arment, William Metzo and Laura Misch Owens. It is an unofficial semi-remake of the 1963 splatter film Blood Feast.

In New Orleans, a serial killer wearing a welder’s mask strikes during the Mardi Gras festival. He goes into a bar and asks for the “most evil” prostitute he can find. He then takes her to a basement where he sacrifices here. He then kills more prostitutes to get their hearts to sacrifice to an ancient Aztec goddess…

The film was on the British Government’s list of video nasties in the 1980s and has not been resubmitted to the BBFC for a certificate since.
