My review of '4/20 Massacre' by William S. Mayfield

The slasher genre has been around for many years and many films. Some good and some not so good. 4/20 Massacre falls into that category, but which side of that spectrum? Let’s look at that.

The story behind the film is five friends decide to take a camping trip to celibate one of their birthdays to a secluded campsite two of them used to go to as small children. It’s a group of women out for a fun weekend of relaxation and, per the title, lots of pot smoking. On the hike in they meet Ranger Rick, played by Jim Storm, who warns the girls that they needed to stick to the paths and trails around the campsite, and to never go up in the hills because there is a lot of pot growers who have been known to become violent when people get to close to their crops. The story continues as we learn that one of the girls is in love with one of the other girls and two of the others or a couple and the last girls is a pothead. Now I did like this movie, I really did. It’s a slasher film and there is a slasher and they do slash.

The few problems I have with 4/20 Massacre is that it has all the elements to be a great b-slasher film and either falls short of just doesn't take the extra push they should have. This should have a lot of funny pot humor and there was some but just not a lot. They have five great looking women that well kinda look like they are ready to go to work the whole time rather than spend a weekend in the woods. The killer does have some impressive kills and the effects are nice and very well done. The climax of the film is well done and defiantly is worthy of the slasher title.

I give 4/20 Massacre a 7 out of 10. Get your high on with 4/20 Massacre on 4/3 via VOD and other digital video platforms.
