Official Trailer and Poster to IFC Midnight's PYEWACKET

We have the official trailer and poster for IFC Midnight's release of PYEWACKET, the new film from BACKCOUNTRY director Adam MacDonald starring Laurie Holden (THE WALKING DEAD; THE X-FILES) and Nicole Muñoz, coming to select theaters, VOD and via digital platforms in the U.S. on MARCH 23, 2018.

Official Synopsis:
When you’re dealing with demons, be careful what you wish for… In this ultra-unsettling occult nightmare, teenage Leah (Nicole Muñoz) finds solace from the recent death of her father—and from her strained relationship with her mother (Laurie Holden)—by dabbling in the dark arts. It all seems like harmless fun at first, until a blow out argument leads Leah to do the unthinkable: put a death curse on her mother. No sooner has the girl performed the ritual than she regrets it. But it may be too late, as an evil presence known as Pyewacket begins to make itself known—and threatens to destroy both mother and daughter. Backcountry director Adam MacDonald builds hair-raising tension around what’s both a complex mother-daughter tale and a frightening fable about our darkest desires.

BEYOND THE GATES Trailer and Poster from IFC Midnight

Available in select theaters, on VOD, and via digital platforms on December 9th from IFC Midnight.

SYNOPSIS
A retro-cool blast from the day-glo 1980s past, Beyond the Gates zaps viewers back to a time when VHS ruled, video stores were meccas for horror fans, and shocks came with a healthy dose of schlock. In the wake of their father’s mysterious disappearance, two estranged brothers—responsible Gordon (Graham Skipper of ALMOST HUMAN) and reckless John (Chase Williamson of JOHN DIES AT THE END)—reunite to sift through the contents of his stubbornly anachronistic VHS rental store. Among the inventory, they discover an interactive VCR board game, which their father viewed just before he vanished. Intrigued, the boys pop in the tape, press play, and soon discover that, far from an ordinary game, the video is a portal to a nightmarish alternate reality overseen by a sinister hostess (cult horror icon Barbara Crampton) and that in order to save their father’s soul, they must play by her rules. Bursting with eye-popping practical effects, an unsettling synth score, and wicked black humor, Beyond the Gates puts a fresh spin on old-school terror.

NEWS: Upcoming Thriller, THE ICE CREAM TRUCK, Releases Details, Poster

The Ice Cream Truck, writer/director Megan Freels Johnston’s highly anticipated follow up to her debut feature, Rebound, has secured distribution for a 2017 release.

The thought-provoking psychological thriller stars Deanna Russo (Being Human, Gossip Girl) as Mary, who moves back to her suburban hometown after her husband gets relocated for work.  As her family ties up loose ends back home, she moves into their new house alone.

And although the move makes Mary nostalgic for her youth, there’s something very sinister about that Ice Cream Truck that patrols her suburb.  Killing.

“As a long time lover of the horror genre, I have always found that there was a point of view missing. There aren't enough horror films by women, for women and about women,” explained Freels Johnston when discussing the film.  “My films are about what's scary inside and outside the female psyche and the fine line that often separates the divide.”

Storytelling is very much in Freels Johnston’s DNA.  The granddaughter of legendary crime writer Elmore Leonard, The Ice Cream Truck screenplay was a semi-finalist in the Circus Road Screenplay competition.

As a producer developing material for over a decade, Freels Johnston worked on adaptations of her grandfather's work and produced Sparks, the directorial debut of Joseph Gordon-Levitt.  After completing a project for the USA Network, she decided to follow her passion and write and direct her own material. Her first film, 2014’s micro budget thriller Rebound, developed a cult following on VOD, was called, “Almost David Lynchian in its strangeness” by Film Threat and Rue Morgue said, the film "(was) worth watching to the end for the unnervingly realistic twist ending."

The Ice Cream Truck also stars John Redlinger (Nashville, Banshee), Emil Johnsen (Isolerad), Hilary Barraford (United States of Tara), Jeff Daniel Phillips (Westworld, The Lords of Salem) and Lisa Ann Walter (The Odd Couple, Curb Your Enthusiasm).
