On this day in horror history.... the re-telling of 'King Kong' is released. This film created one of the most iconic posters of my childhood. (see the above photo) It also introduced the world to an amazing actress, Jessica Lange, in her feature film debut. While it's been years since I've seen this film, it will always have a sweet spot in my heart. Who doesn't love 'King Kong'?

On this day in horror history.... Michael Mann releases his monster movie, 'The Keep', into theaters nationwide. Based on the F. Paul Wilson novel, this film takes a new twist on an old theme. Although, I've never seen it, this is one that's on my list of things I should see before I die.

It's Time for a Terror Time Out Featuring Rob Zombie's 'Halloween II' 2009
One picture alone tells a story and a horror film is full of still frames that stand out as works of art. A Terror Time out is when we feature a still from one of those films. Here is this weeks frame of horror fame.
Rob Zombie's H2 starts with Michael returning from a pilgrimage to pick back up with were he left off. This picture perfectly captures the idea he is like a monk on a mission to save some ones soul. In this case his sisters. He's also plagued by an ediple complex all while the blood and gore gets amped to the extreme.

On this day in horror history.... Ted Raimi is born. While he may not be quite as well know as his brother, Sam, Ted has made quite the reputation on his own. An actor who's face you know, but may have never known his family ties. He's capable of playing all genres and always being likable and quite charismatic. Happy Birthday Ted!

On this day in horror history.... the master of horror, Wes Craven, brings us the second chapter in his self referential film franchise, 'Scream 2'. Continuing the story of Sydney Prescott, Ghostface is back again and looking for blood. While it may not have been quite as good as the original, it was damn close.

On this day in horror history.... the man who gave us an original take on the 'Frankenstein' type story, Paul Wegener, is born. Although, he made several other films, his best known was 'The Golem: How He Came Into the World'. A silent film, that speaks volumes. It may not rank as highly as 'Nosferatu', in regards to horror films of the time, but it's just as influential. Happy Birthday!
